QUESTION:
1. For each of the following word equations, write a balanced equation. Make sure to include the physical states. a) calcium hydroxide + sulfuric acid → calcium sulfate + water b) sodium carbonate + hydrochloric acid → sodium chloride + water + carbon dioxide c) aluminum + hydrochloric acid → aluminum chloride + hydrogen
2. Write a balanced equation for each of the following reactions. Make sure to include the physical states.
a) Hydrochloric acid is added to a solid sample of calcium carbonate.
b) Barium hydroxide reacts with nitric acid.
c) Boron tri chloride reacts with steam to produce boron tri hydroxide and hydrogen chloride. When calcium chloride solution is added to sodium carbonate solution in a beaker, the mixture quickly becomes cloudy because a precipitate of calcium carbonate forms. Calcium carbonate is insoluble in water. The equation for the reaction can be written as: CaCl2(aq) + Na2CO3(aq) → 2NaCl(aq) + CaCO3(s) Rewrite this equation as a full ionic equation. Include the relevant physical states.
3. The first column of this table lists two solutions which are mixed. Each mixture produces a precipitate. Write a balanced net-ionic equation for each precipitation reaction. Include the corresponding states in your equations.
